A Poem

Shall we drink coffee while the sun rises
on the banks of the Fox River?

Are we wild enough
to unclasp the clothes
from our bodies
and swim in the shimmering water?

Shall we gather stones
from beneath the sand
and build a protective circle
around our fire?

Shall we kiss the earth for warmth
while the wind moves west and undresses
the long white clouds from the sky?

Our naked bodies chase the horizon
but the tide carries us
till we become
an ocean.
